UNH Macfarlane Greenhouse Project

January 2020 Update: This partnership has been phased out during 2019, because of renovations to the Macfarlane Greenhouse complex. All of the orchids (and other plants) housed in the original large greenhouse were removed and new homes for them were found. We look forward to perhaps planning collaborations in the future.

September 2018 Update: This partnership has developed over the past several years. The collection at UNH has been enhanced by donations of plants, large and small,  from various sources and NHOS events.   NHOS participates in annual OPEN HOUSE events at the MacFarlane. Large orchids have been divided and repotted at various events, including the 2018 NHOS Orchid Show, and then sold to supplement the Education and Conservation Program. This continues to be a mutually beneficial relationship!

November 2014 update: Partnerships are developing between NHOS and the staff of the UNH Macfarlane Greenhouses in Durham, NH. This has resulted in UNH having a more diverse orchid collection for educating their students, faculty, and visitors. NHOS has gained exposure in a public venue. Numerous plants have been donated by NHOS members, including a beautiful brass plaque to acknowledge the role of NHOS.
